What if?
What if my pet should get lost? Will I be able to get them back quickly and safely?
For some of us, it’s still an uneasy question. For many of us, the answer is already tragically apparent. 2007 was a transformational year for the friends and family of the team that has put together My Pet Street. One pet bolted from a caregiver he didn’t know yet. One pet was stolen. One pet wandered off into deep brush, making it almost impossible to see his trail. One took off when a roommate accidentally left the front door open.
These are the stories of four families. One of the stories has a tragic end, but every one of us feared that same outcome as we frantically tried to bring our pets to safety.
These experiences inspired us to create PetAlertz – a way to empower your local community in helping to get your pet back home as quickly as possible if they should ever get lost or stolen.
Why will this work?
After our own experiences, we learned there was powerful support within the community that could be combined by the power of the Internet to use those critical first moments to get a pet back home quickly and safely. We learned that we, as animal lovers, are motivated to help other pet owners in our neighborhoods: "If I agree to help you, and you agree to help me" we signficantly reduce the trauma our pets experience when they are lost. We want to help. We want to be there for you.
As we work with this foundation, My Pet Street also provides resources and services available to enjoy when you and your pet are safely at home.
