How to choose a good mouser cat?
We would like to adopt a cat for a pet as well as for a vacancy in our mouser position. Truly being a mouser for our really lovely little gophers that are killing our lawn is a highly paid job. We have fabulous benefits such as specialty foods, long naps on our laps and maybe even a lick off the tuna salad spoon.
Our mouser died of old age, we loved him dearly.
How do I choose a cat? I have no idea!

The best mouser cats seem to
The best mouser cats seem to be the ones who learned it from their mothers- sort of like an age-old bit of wisdom passed down. I would sort of call them age old warrior cats! If you can find someone who has barn cats and young kittens of about 3 months old, you should be able to have yourself a good mouser cat!!!!
Also, I have heard that you get two mice and put a stuffed real fur mouse in the mice cage for a week so that the smell gets all over it, then take this stuffed mouse and tie it to one of those toys that are like a fishing pole- the kitten will get used to the idea of the smell and the play of the chase game. This will essentially taunt and teach the kitten to chase it.
Now what do you do with the mice you bought? Just give it to the local school, they love to have these for the classrooms! Its a double win!
