Our hamster has wet tail disease! Help!
What can we do to help our hamster? I have seen this before, so I know it means death, but taking him to a vet seems too costly.

Wet tail disease.
Are you sure it is wet tail disease? If so it seems that your only choice would be to take the little guy to a vet. Wet tail disease is a serious intestinal bacterial infection. It can be caused by stress. One of the main symptoms of this disease is diarrhea.
1. You must isolate the hamster from his/her stressful situation and away from the other hamsters if you have more.
2. Get children's pedialite and use half water, half pedialite in a dropper and give to animal.
3. Take him/her to the vet.
You can use our provider tool bar to find a vet in your area.
There is an over the counter medication called Dry Tail but it may not have enough antibiotic in it to solve the problem and this means you are risking the little guys life. I am so sorry to hear about your pet, I hope everything works out for you!
Best of Luck!
