The collective wisdom of pet care and landscaping experts recommends that we put some thought into our yards, so that our pets have a safe and fun environment to explore.

Certified animal behaviorist Suzanne Hetts of Animal Behavior Associates in Littleton, Colo., says "You can't get upset when a dog digs a hole, because that's what dogs do. A good improvement strategy for your yard would be one that is based on your pet's needs and accounts for the animal's patterns and preferences."
